Do you have evidence for that statement?

We have been discussing the hypothesis of Continental Drift, and because it is a hypothesis it requires us to have evidence to support our "educated guess." Explain 2 pieces of evidence used to support this hypothesis? What was the piece of evidence that you found most interesting? Tell me why this piece of evidence was the most interesting.

  1. Two pieces of evidence used to support this hypothesis are that Wegener realized that 200 million years ago all of the continents were together i one piece called pangaea. Another piece of evidence used is that the reptile mesosaurus was found in south america and africa. This reptile lived in fresh water and on land,it couldn't swim between the continents. Wegener hypothesized that the reptile lived on continents that were joined.

  3. The continents plowed through the ocean floor, drivin by the spin of earth.

If the continents were connected at one time, then rocks that make up the continent should be the same in location where they were joined.Similar rock structures are found on different continents.

The piece of evidence I found most interesting was the rock clues, because they make the most sense to me.It also helps me understand and believe that all of the continents were once togethere.

  4. 1.Fossils of the reptile Mesosaurus that have been found in South America and Africa.
2.Also the fossil of Glossopteris found in Australia, India, South America, and Antartica. The evidence I find most interesting is the fossil of the Mesosaurus because it lived in freshwater and land. Amir Archer. block 1b

  5. The two pieces of evidence I have found on the hypothesis of Continental Drift is, that states that Earth's continents were not always where they are now. Another is that they slowly drift into their current positions.

  6. There were many pieces of evidence that explained that the Earth's continents were connected and that continental drift was true. One piece of evedence was that the fossils of animals were found in different places where the continents fit together. Another piece of evedence was that the same type of plant was found in different in different areas in the world. For example, if the palm tree is a hot weather growing plant, and if its fossils were found in a cold area like Antartica, then that is proof that the continents were connected in some way. I think that finding the same plants in different places is interesting. I think that it is cool to see how plants that could only survive in hot or modern temp. areas were found in cold places like Antartica. That says that Antartica was once warmer until the contenents drifted apart.
